Description
Linum usitatissimum, commonly known as flax, is a hardy and elegant plant that is easy to grow. Here's what you need to know about these flax seeds:
Description :
- Flax is a herbaceous plant with fibrous stems that branch out in the shape of a corymb. Its thin stems bear narrow, lanceolate leaves of a glaucous bluish green.
- Its light, delicate, funnel-shaped flowers are light blue and measure between 2 and 3 cm in diameter. They move with the slightest breath of wind all summer long, adding graceful movement to your garden.
Growing tips:
- Linseeds are sown in place or in pots, in partial shade, from April to July.
- When the plants have 4 to 5 leaves, transplant them spacing them 10 cm apart.
- Protect the young plants from frost before winter, then plant them permanently the following spring, spacing them 30 cm apart.
- Flax will naturally reseed itself each year after its first planting.
