10 Calabash Seeds
Description
The gourd, a cosmopolitan plant found in various regions of the world such as Thailand, Mexico and Papua, is a climbing annual belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family. Here's what you need to know about these seeds:
Description :
- The gourds produce edible fruits which, when dried, are used as utensils.
- The fruits are round, fleshy and light green when young. They are used more for decoration because of their bitter taste, which is not appreciated in cooking.
- These climbing plants can be used to decorate fences or grills. They can also experience exceptional growth if planted on a compost pile.
Use :
- If you want to use them for decoration, let them dry until fall (4 to 5 months after sowing) so that they drain naturally.
- Gourds can also be used to make musical instruments or vessels once they are dry.
Planting Tips:
- Sow the seeds in pots to transplant them after the last frost.
