200 Seeds of Oval Hare's Tail Grass (Lagurus ovatus)
Description
Oval Lagurus – Hare's Tail (Lagurus ovatus)
Also called Hare's Tail, Big Kitten, Catkin, or Bunny Tail, the Oval Lagurus (Lagurus ovatus) is a highly prized annual grass for its fluffy spikelets shaped like pom-poms, resembling a small rabbit tail. Native to the Mediterranean basin, this ornamental plant charms with its delicate appearance and ease of cultivation.
This very decorative grass, with tufts ranging from 30 to 50 cm in height, is used both in flower beds and as dried bouquets. It adds a bohemian and poetic touch to any outdoor space, and is also attractive to pollinators in the garden.
Planting tips:
Sow directly outdoors in spring, or in autumn in mild climate regions. Germination is quick (10 to 14 days), with no need for stratification. Lagurus prefers light, well-drained soils and a sunny exposure. Light watering is sufficient, as the plant tolerates drought well once established.
Lagurus ovatus is an annual plant, but it easily self-seeds from one year to the next if the soil is not too disturbed.
🌸 Plant Associations
It pairs beautifully with yarrow, echinacea, or cosmos, fine grasses like Stipa tenuissima, or even flowering annual plants for a contrast of textures.
