🥕 Drought-resistant vegetables

🟢 Carrots for light soil
Varieties like the Blood Red Carrot or the Parisian Carrot grow very well in sandy soils. They can withstand drought after emergence if mulched.

🟢 Straw Yellow Onion
A rustic classic, undemanding once rooted. Ideal for dry summer climates.

🟢 Swiss Chard

Very effective for structuring tired soils. 

🟢 Sainfoin, buckwheat, savory?
No sainfoin currently, but Perennial Savory or Common Burnet are sober and useful melliferous plants.

🌸 Hardy flowers and herbs

🟢 Marigold (Calendula officinalis)
Very hardy, it blooms generously even without fertilizer. 

🟢 Dwarf Nasturtium
An excellent companion plant, which attracts aphids away from sensitive crops.

🟢 Thyme, Oregano, Savory
These Mediterranean aromatics Thyme, Oregano, Savory are made for rocky and dry soils. They scent the garden while feeding pollinators.

🟢 Nigella, Poppy, Poppies
