Description
Cauliflower, appreciated for its mild flavor and white head, is a staple in French gardens. Here is everything you need to know about this plant:
Cauliflower Characteristics:
- Delicate flavor: Cauliflower is praised for its rather mild flavor, making it the favorite cabbage of the French.
- Soil requirements: Like all cabbages, cauliflowers prefer deep, fresh, humus-rich, and slightly clayey soil. They also prefer sunlight but are sensitive to excessive heat and drought. In hot regions, it is advisable to place them in partial shade.
Growing Tips:
- Sowing: Sowing can be done in a nursery from March to April.
- Planting: When seedlings reach a certain size, about 10 to 15 cm tall, they can be transplanted into open ground.
- Spacing: Maintain a spacing of about 50 to 70 cm between each plant.
- Watering: Make sure to keep the soil moist but avoid waterlogging by watering regularly but moderately.
