🌲Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica) – 5 seeds

The Atlas Cedar, or Cedrus atlantica, is a majestic conifer native to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Valued for its slender form, blue-green evergreen foliage, and imposing appearance, it is often planted as a solitary specimen in parks and large gardens. 
Its cultivation as a bonsai is also very popular.

The Atlas Cedar is a slow-growing perennial tree that can live for several centuries and reach up to 30 to 40 meters in height. Resistant to cold (down to -20°C), it adapts well to temperate and dry climates.

🌱 Planting tips:

• The seeds require a cold stratification of 4 to 6 weeks to break their natural dormancy.

• Then sow in a light, well-drained substrate, in a pot, about 1 cm deep, in spring or autumn.

• Keep moist without excess. Germination can be slow and spread over several weeks.

• Plant in open ground the following autumn, in full sun, in well-drained soil.

🌿 Uses:

An iconic ornamental tree, often used for reforestation or structuring landscapes, it is perfect for large spaces, parks, or as a signature tree at property entrances.

Cedar wood is renowned for its durability, fragrance, and insect resistance; providing shelter and food for many birds, it enriches the landscape.

Its fragrant wood is also sought after in carpentry.

🌼 Associations :

To be paired with understated perennials such as lavenders, euphorbias, or grasses, or with other conifers to create a Mediterranean or mountainous atmosphere.
