The Giant Thuja, also called Western Giant Thuja, Western Red Cedar (not to be confused with true cedars), Western Red Cedar (in English) or Lobb's Thuja, is a majestic conifer native to the moist forests of the North American Pacific coast.

Known for its longevity, fast growth and slender form, it can reach up to 50 meters tall in favorable conditions. It is often used to form evergreen hedges, windbreaks or as a solitary tree.

Perfect for creating plant screens, it offers excellent protection against wind and prying eyes while promoting biodiversity. Its wood, rot-resistant, is also prized for outdoor carpentry.

🌿 Cultivation tips:

• Sowing: Cold stratification required for 30 to 60 days (in the refrigerator in a moist substrate), then surface or slightly buried sowing. In spring or autumn, in pots or nursery. Transplant in full sun or partial shade.

• Substrate: Light, well-drained soil, rather acidic to neutral.

• Exposure: Full sun to partial shade.

• Watering: Regular during the first year, then very drought-resistant once established.

• Hardiness: Excellent (down to -25 °C).

• Growth: Fast, about 30 to 60 cm per year in temperate climates.
