Alyssum Odoratum "Rosie O'Day" is an annual plant with fragrant flowers, highly prized for its small bright pink flowers and pleasant honey scent. Very floriferous, with a sweet and delicate fragrance, perfect for borders, rock gardens, or pots. It dresses pollinators and colors the garden gently.
Flowering and characteristics:
This compact variety, about 10 to 15 cm tall, is covered with a dense carpet of slightly violet pink flowers.
Usage:
Perfect for beautifying windowsills, balconies, and borders, Alyssum Rosie O'Day is also useful in companion planting, especially in vegetable gardens, where it attracts beneficial insects like hoverflies, bees, and butterflies. It is often used as a decorative ground cover.
Fragrant, it enhances sensory gardens or relaxation rooms.
Planting tips:
Sow the seeds directly in place in spring or under cover from February, in light and well-drained soil. Water moderately. A sunny exposure promotes abundant flowering. No stratification needed: germination is quick (8 to 15 days at 15-20°C). It can also be easily grown in pots.
It is an annual plant (life cycle over one season). It sometimes self-seeds spontaneously from one year to the next if conditions are favorable.
Favorable associations:
Goes well with pansies , nasturtiums , mallows , dwarf lupins or vegetables like lettuce or radishes, which it protects by attracting beneficial insects.

I grew these for the first time last year and they are fantastic. Good for general use and equally good for cooked dishes. Wonderful dark red flesh which is very tasty.
