Cultivation instructions
-
Preparation of the sugar water mixture :
- Use bottled mineral water to avoid contaminants like chlorine.
- Add about 10% preservative-free apple or lemon syrup (glucose/fructose).
- Mix 10 ml of mycelium per liter of sugar water (for example, 15 ml for a 1.5-liter bottle).
- Gently shake to evenly distribute the mycelium.
-
Mycelium development :
- Place the mixture in a dark room at a stable temperature of at least 20°C.
- Let rest for 4 to 5 days until the mycelium filaments develop and the liquid becomes cloudy.
-
Soil inoculation :
- Dig shallow holes or furrows around the target trees, about 1 meter from the trunk.
- Fill the holes with a compost mixture (leaves, wood, straw) or slightly decomposed humus.
- Spread the mycelium mixture over the moistened substrate.
- Add a thin layer of mulch (dead leaves or straw) to preserve moisture.
-
Environmental conditions :
- Moisture : Maintain high humidity, especially during the first three weeks after inoculation.
- Temperature : Favor moderate temperatures between 10°C and 25°C.
- Exposure : Blonde Morels prefer semi-shaded or well-exposed areas.
Seasonality and harvest
- Inoculation : Spring or early autumn, when weather conditions are mild and humid.
- Expected fruiting : Blonde Morels generally fruit in spring, between March and May. Fruiting can sometimes take 2 to 3 years, but the mycelium can continue to produce for several years under ideal conditions.
