The Ginkgo biloba, also called forty-dollar tree , is a true living relic, the only surviving species of the Ginkgoaceae family, present on Earth for more than 270 million years. Native to China, it is now cultivated worldwide for its ornamental beauty, remarkable resistance, and recognized medicinal virtues.

• Type : Deciduous tree perennial , very hardy (down to -30°C).

• Adult height : 15 to 25 meters in open ground.

• Exposure : Sun or partial shade.

• Soil : Light, well-drained, tolerates poor and urban soils.

• Stratification : Yes , 60 to 90 days in cold moist conditions (refrigerator) before sowing.

• Sowing : In spring, after stratification. Sow in pots or directly in the ground at 2-3 cm depth.

• Germination : Slow, can take 1 to 2 months, or even longer.

• Bonsai : The Ginkgo is highly valued for bonsai cultivation.
