Description
Grow your own Summer White Truffles with this mycelium kit
Summer White Truffles, known for their delicate flavor and subtle aroma, are gems of gastronomy. With this kit, you can cultivate these precious truffles in your own garden.
Details
This kit contains a tube of Summer White Truffle liquid mycelium (Tuber aestivum), produced under optimal sterile conditions. The mycelium is ready to be diluted in a sugar water solution for easy inoculation.
Summer White Truffles live in symbiosis with several types of host trees, such as:
- Oaks (green, pubescent, pedunculate, kermes)
- Hazelnuts
- Lindens
- Pines (Aleppo and black)
- Hornbeam
They prefer clay-loam soils, slightly alkaline to neutral (pH between 7 and 8), with good water retention but without excess moisture.
Product advantages:
- Compatible with various types of trees and natural substrates.
- Simple and effective method to start a truffle cultivation.
- Allows prolonged fruiting under ideal conditions.
- Environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Cultivation instructions
-
Preparation of the sugar water mixture :
- Use bottled mineral water to avoid contaminants like chlorine.
- Add about 10% preservative-free apple or lemon syrup (glucose/fructose).
- Mix 10 ml of mycelium per liter of sugar water (for example, 15 ml for a 1.5-liter bottle).
- Gently shake to evenly distribute the mycelium.
-
Mycelium development :
- Place the mixture in a dark room at a stable temperature of at least 20°C.
- Let rest for at least 4 to 5 days, until the mycelium filaments develop and the liquid becomes cloudy.
-
Soil inoculation :
- Directly on the roots : Slightly clear the roots of young trees (1 to 2 years old). Rinse them to remove impurities, then dip them in the mycelium mixture for 10 to 15 minutes before replanting.
-
Soil inoculation : Dig holes or furrows around the target trees (about 1 meter from the trunk).
- Incorporate a layer of substrate (fine peat, vermiculite, or sand) mixed with the mycelium.
- Water lightly to maintain moisture, but avoid waterlogged soil.
-
Environmental conditions :
- Moisture : Maintain constant humidity during the first weeks after inoculation.
- Temperature : Ideal between 10°C and 25°C.
- Exposure : Prefer semi-shaded areas or benefit from filtered sunlight. Lightly prune the trees to allow good light penetration.
Seasonality and harvest
- Inoculation : Spring or early autumn, when weather conditions are mild and humid.
- Expected fruiting : Summer White Truffles usually fruit from September to December, but production can sometimes take several years (generally 5 to 10 years after inoculation).
