Gray Chanterelles require a symbiotic environment with host trees such as:

Their ideal substrate includes:
- Forest humus
- Decomposed dead leaves

Gray Chanterelles prefer well-drained and slightly acidic soils (pH 5.5 to 6.5), in semi-shaded or wooded areas.

Cultivation instructions

Preparation of the sugar water mixture :
- Use bottled mineral water to minimize chlorine presence.
- Add about 10% preservative-free apple or lemon syrup (glucose/fructose).
- Shake the mycelium tube well, then mix the contents at a rate of 10 ml per liter of sugar water.

Mycelium development :
- Place the mixture in a dark room at a stable temperature of at least 20°C.
- Let rest for 4 to 5 days until the liquid becomes cloudy and mycelium filaments appear.

Soil inoculation :
- Dig shallow holes or furrows (about 20 cm) around the target trees.
- Fill them with a substrate made of leaf compost, wood, straw, or humus.
- Spread the mycelium mixture over the substrate and add a thin layer of dead leaves or straw to preserve moisture.

Environmental conditions :

Moisture : Maintain constant humidity, especially during dry periods.

Temperature : Ideally between 10°C and 25°C.

Exposure : Favor semi-shaded areas with indirect light access.
Seasonality and harvest

Inoculation : Spring or early autumn, when weather conditions are mild and humid.

Expected fruiting : Gray Chanterelles can fruit from late summer to early autumn, about 2 to 3 years after inoculation.
