250 Chinese Cabbage Pé-Tsaï Granaat Seeds (Brassica rapa pekinensis)
Description
Chinese Cabbage Pé-Tsaï ‘Granaat’ (Brassica rapa var. pekinensis)
Also called Beijing cabbage, napa cabbage, or celestial cabbage, Pé-Tsaï is an Asian variety of Chinese cabbage prized for its tender, sweet, and crunchy leaves. ‘Granaat’ is a very early selection, ideal for late summer to autumn crops.
Annual plant, it forms an elongated and compact head, ideal for woks, soups, salads, or lacto-fermentation (kimchi). The Granaat variety is particularly suited to temperate climates and offers excellent resistance to bolting.
Usage:
Pé-Tsaï can be eaten raw or cooked. Its leaves are tender and slightly sweet. It suits a wide variety of dishes: stir-fries, soups, stuffed dishes, or fermented. Pairs well with ginger, garlic, coriander, or soy sauce.
Planting tips:
-
Sow from March to September, in a nursery or directly in the ground depending on the season.
-
Transplanting is recommended when the plants reach 4 to 5 leaves.
-
The soil should be cool, humus-rich, well-drained, and slightly acidic to neutral.
-
Regular watering for good head formation.
Companion planting in the vegetable garden
Good compatibility with carrots, lettuce, beets, and herbs (dill, chives). Avoid other brassicas in the same spot the following year.
