150 seeds of Field Thistle (Cirsium arvense)
Description
Field thistle, although often mistaken for a thistle, is actually a cirsium. This plant, recognizable by its creeping horizontal rhizomes and deep vertical roots, can be considered invasive due to its ability to spread rapidly. However, it also presents several ecological benefits.
Features:
- Ecological benefits: Field thistle is a food source for many species, including the caterpillars of the painted lady butterfly and various beetles such as ladybugs and leaf beetles. The seeds of this plant also constitute an important food reserve for granivorous birds such as the goldfinch. Additionally, field thistle is highly appreciated by bees that collect pollen and nectar from it.
- Ease of cultivation: Although considered invasive, field thistle is easy to grow and can adapt to different soil types.
Commitment to quality:
At SemiSauvage - Permaculture, we are committed to providing seeds of the highest quality, reproducible and non-hybrid, carefully selected to ensure an authentic and rewarding gardening experience. Our seeds come from plants grown near the Auvergne Volcanoes, respecting the local ecosystem.
