- Low in calories, Swiss chard is high in fiber, making it an excellent choice for promoting intestinal health. Additionally, its leaves are an excellent source of vitamin C, known for its medicinal properties.
Growing Tips:
- Swiss chard is a biennial plant, but it is usually grown as an annual in vegetable gardens. It must be reseeded every year because it quickly bolts to seed in the spring, thus limiting the harvest period.
- It prefers rich, well-aerated soils and grows best in a sunny environment.
- The seeds can be sown directly in the ground and require regular watering to keep the soil moist during growth.
