Inoculation is ideally carried out in spring or early autumn, when the weather conditions are mild and humid.

  1. Dig small holes or shallow furrows around the trees, approximately 1 meter from the trunk.
  2. Add a layer of the chosen substrate, moist but not waterlogged.
  3. Spread the liquid mycelium mixture over the moistened substrate.
  4. Cover with a thin layer of dead leaves or straw to retain moisture and protect the mycelium.

Ideal environmental conditions

  • Humidity: the air must remain humid, especially in summer. Water lightly during dry periods.
  • Temperature: between 10 °C and 25 °C.
  • Exposure: shaded or partially shaded area, with indirect light.

Fruiting and seasonality

Inoculation takes place in spring or early autumn. Porcini fruiting generally occurs after heavy rainfall, from early spring to late autumn.

However, it is important to remain realistic: fruiting may take several years, often 2 to 3 years after inoculation. If conditions are favorable, the mycelium can then live for several years and continue developing on your land.
